Essie Cute as a Button ~ Nail Polish ~ Gorgeous Pinky Coral for Spring & Summer

One of my favorite Coral Pinks is Essie's Cute as a Button! It looks perfect on fair skin tones but it also looks amazing on a tan. With Spring here and Summer in just a few months you can't go wrong with this color :)

Actual Color Swatch

I used Sally Hansen's Diamond Strength No Chip as a top coat. The Diamond Strength adds a nice shine and it usually prolongs my Essie polish a few extra days.

(Sorry the photos are a little fuzzy, my camera battery was low and the lighting wasn't great :)

I matched Essie's Cute as a Button with a Turquoise Sundress, Coral Tory Burch Clutch, Coral Espadrilles Wedges, neutral makeup, and Korres Pomegrante lip color for a cute Spring look.

Essie's Cute as a Button polish may not be in the current rotation but you can always find this little gem on eBay!

Tell us! Which polish color is your favorite for Spring?

6 Reasons Why Everyone Should Have a Naturopathic Doctor ~ Alternative Medicine

It's likely you have a regular care physician who is MD certified but have you considered the important reasons everyone should also see a Naturopathic doctor? Alternative medicine can play a vital role in preventive medicine and achieving life long wellness.

Consider these top reasons:

Quality Care
If you've been in a Md's office chances are you have probably experienced a visit where you were in and out the door with a prescription before you felt the Doctor allowed enough time for you to thoroughly discuss your condition. A typical naturopathic visit usually lasts from at least 30 minutes up to 2 hours as the physician will perform a comprehensive physical exam, detailed information on current and past medical symptoms and history and discuss in detail your treatment options. A naturopathic likes to educate their patients on healthful living, and how to prevent common conditions through proper nutrition and a clean diet. It's likely they will also provide you with media information, pamphlets, web links, directories, and resources that contain information on how you can obtain more health education.

Board Certified
Are you worried your naturopathic doctor may not be board certified? Know that all naturopathic doctors are required to graduate from a four-year accredited medical school and required to pass board exams to receive their licenses. Training and requirements are similar to traditional MD Doctors. You can be assured your naturopathic has been well educated and that you are being seen by a Medical Professional.

Non-toxic Treatments
Naturopathic doctors provide treatments that are safe and non-toxic to your body. These physicians are trained to treat common conditions without drugs and harmful medicines. For example if you were to have a cold a naturopathic would prescribe a natural remedy of Vitamins and Herbal supplements that would boost your immune system to allow your body to heal naturally. Prescription medications have been known to be toxic and slow your body of it's natural healing defences. Avoiding the use of antibiotics when it's possible helps us stay healthy and preserves the good bacteria that lives in your body. Having these good bacterias in your body are essential to keeping you healthy via digestions, brain functions and keeping the immune system up to par. A naturopathic will help you tap into your body's natural healing mechanism through the use of nature's remedies.

Referral
If it should happen that you require traditional medical treatments, naturopathic doctors are trained to recognize emergency and threatening conditions. They know when it is necessary to refer you to hospital care and when more aggressive therapy is needed. You can feel at ease your Natural physician will treat you or refer to to the care level that is necessary for your condition.

Current and Ancient Medicine Science
Naturopathic are knowledgeable in a field of medical science most Western Medical doctors are not; Ancient medicine. Naturopathics have taken from trusted and centuries used medical practices. They are armed with the knowledge of alternative homeopathy including use of vitamins, botanics, physical manipulation, and nutritional therapies and have access to prescribing traditional drugs and medications for your best treatment options.

Treating the Cause
Most medications are created to suppress your symptoms. While many natural treatments are created to alleviate symptoms, the focus of the naturopathic doctor is to eliminate the cause of your condition. Each person is biologically different and many things can contribute to conditions you may be experiencing such as food allergies, emotional stress, toxins in the environment, and chemicals are common culprits. Your naturopathic doctor will help you manage your medications and treat you naturally while slowly taking you off prescriptions and controlling your symptoms effectively.

Sunny Side Up Shamrocks! ~ Eggs Made With Green Bell Peppers! St. Patty's Day Breakfast

I seen these cute "Shamrock" eggs on Pinterest and made them on St. Patrick's Day. They were a little difficult to make without the proper non-stick spray but if you use something non-stick you'll have a cute breakfast presentation for St. Patrick's Day!

To make 4 Shamrocks, all you'll need is 4 Eggs, Non-Stick Cooking Spray and 2 Green Bell Peppers.

After washing the Green Peppers, turn them on their sides, and slice vertically near the top of the pepper. The bottom of the pepper has 3 sides but the top has 4. Interesting right? That's why you might need 2 peppers, so you can get 4 four-sided slices. When choosing Green Peppers, try to choose the most curviest four-sided tops for more Shamrock appeal!

Place Peppers on a nonstick pan and fry peppers on each side to heat them up and give them great flavor. When cracking egg into pepper, be sure to hold down the pepper cutout to prevent the egg from spilling into pan. (Mine spilled a little.) If your egg spills beneath and throughout the pan, it's okay too, they just won't be as clean cut when taking out.

About two minutes later and a little Black Pepper...

After about 6 minutes remove from pan and discard the 'extra' spillage. Place on plate and

Voila~!

Sunny Side Up Shamrocks!

They're super healthy and low in Carbs and Calories! The Green Pepper has a fajita like taste and tastes great with the eggs!

If you happen to make these, leave a comment below and let us know how it turned out! We'd love to hear from you! :)

Happy March Everyone!

Tilapia & Lemon Kale Beet Salad ~ Delicious & Healthy Low Calorie Eating ~ Easy Meal Idea

It's Tuesday and that means I've been on my 'super healthy eating' diet plan for 5 Days! So how do I feel? One word; Amazing! I know, I know, people always say that right? But really how else would be feel after eating what nature intended our bodies to eat, live food bursting with nutrition and enzymes! I have so much energy! Seriously! It's definitely an awesome feeling.

Earlier I was thinking to myself...why is it that I like to eat a bag of cookies or munch down on so much junk food or fast food when I can feel like THIS? And I thought to myself, maybe it's because I always forget how THIS feels. I never allow my body enough time to get to this point and to experience what a healthy body and a lot of energy and clarity can really feel like. And it's true that once your 'hooked' on junk food, alot like smoking, it's hard to stop, or want to stop. Now that I've 'detoxed' the yucky out and got over my migraines (from sugar I'm guessing?) I don't want to stop this eating plan. My boyfriend brought home a pizza yesterday and though normally I'd be on it like a vultures on a...well it just didn't seem very appetizing! Or edible for that matter. All that grease and all that bread. Bread is my favorite food so please oh please don't let me lose my will! My boyfriend is pretty sure something is wrong with me for not wanting anything to do with his Pizza. :)

This month grocery stores around here were having great sales on Seafood because of Lent. I made sure to stock up on a lot of fish and put it in the freezer. One of them being Tilapia! Though it's a white fish and it's not quite as flavorful as Salmon, there's a lot you can do with it. Normally when I'd buy Tilapia I'd bread it and made a fish fry or my favorite, put the Tilapia in flour tortillas with slaw, homemade salsa, guacamole, tangy sauce and fresh cilantro for Fish Tacos! Yum!

For lunch I baked Tilapia with pepper and fresh lemon and made a great salad from Kale and Beet!

This salad turned out really delicious! It was very easy to make too. Normally I'd use the regular more foliage Kale as it's less tough to chew in salads but I had a veggie mishap at the grocery store and needed to find more uses for it. :)

I used:
♥ 3 leaves of Flat Leaf or Regular Kale, remove stems, hand tear into bit size bits
♥ 1 Beet, washed and grated with a cheese grater (the pigment can stain your skin, you might want to use some gloves)
♥ juice of a 1/2 lemon

The Lemon is important because it brings out the sweetness of the Beet and breaks down the toughness of the Flat Leaf Kale. :)

I also wanted to share a really great Tarter sauce from Whole Foods!

It's from Whole Food's 365 brand. (My Mother works for Whole Foods so she tells me about their training on their brand and store policies) You can always trust the ingredients from the 365 brand and it's almost always just as affordable as say, Target brand, ect. Great ingredients in this Tarter sauce, unlike the High Fructose Corn Syrup and Hydrogenated Oil Tarter Sauce I often find in stores.

Full of Good Stuff
I added a little on my Tilapia while eating and it tasted so good! The extra bit of calories the tarter adds is definitely worth it a little treat  ;)

Let me know if you try this salad, I'd love to know if you liked it :)

Cutie Cutie Strawberry Banana Protein Smoothie ~ Perfect for the AM ~ So Yum!

I've been eating a lot of fast food the last few days and haven't been feeling so hot. My body was lacking nutrition and energy so on Friday when I was making out my grocery list for the weekend, I decided I wanted to incorporate lots of awesome smoothies and homemade juices for the week. I love delicious and fruity smoothies in the morning and power Green juices in the afternoon. They make me feel so good!

I was a good girl at the grocery store and got all my fruits, veggies, salmon, fish, fermented foods, nuts and restocked on some great oils (coconut oil for everything) and Jojoba for my hair and skin.

I started using Coconut oil years ago when I found out how great it is for cooking, and topically on your body. I keep discovering more and more ways to use Coconut oil on the internet and in alternative medicine books and I am going to make a post soon on all the information I've learned on Coconut oil! So keep an eye out for that, you definitely don't want to miss it. :)

This morning I made a Strawberry, Banana and Orange smoothie and it turned out so yum! Every year I buy a box or two of Cutie oranges and it seems like there are hundreds of them in the refrigerator and I have to find uses for them. They substitute well for oranges in smoothies! I pretty much guesstimate all the ingredients amounts when I'm making these things but here is the approximate recipe I used. :)

The Cutie Cutie Strawberry Banana Protein

1.5 Cup Coconut Milk
1/2 Cup Vanilla Greek Yogurt
1 Scoop of your Favorite Protein Powder
6 Large Strawberries, Remove Tops
1 Large Banana
1/2 frozen banana
2 "Cuties" oranges or 1 Small Orange, peeled
1/2 cup Ice
a squeeze of fresh lemon juice (optional)

Combine all ingredients in a blender (I use a Ninja!) and blend until smooth and creamy!

This makes a fairly large batch (filled up my Qt. mason jar) so you can cut portion in half and store the other portion for later if desired.

Let me know if you like this recipe! Enjoy! :)

Maybelline's New Volum' Express The Rocket Mascara Review ~ Promises 8X the Volume!

Hey Moxie Beauties ;)
Today I'm reviewing Maybelline's New Volum' Express ~ The Rocket Mascara!
Package Front
Package Back
So according to the package, Maybelline promises:
"Explosive Volume from Root to Tip ~ 8X the Clump Free Volume and a New Supersonic Brush"

"Introducing our advanced, patented, supersonic brush: it's hard core and evenly spaced soft bristles give 8X the volume, even from root to tip, in Rocket time!" It also says this formula is 'clump-free', safe for contact wearers, and sensitive eyes.

Use: For Best Results, apply the supersonic brush against your lashes from root to tip, until your lashes take off to an explosive level of volume." (hehe)

I purchased the non-waterproof (regular) color 400, blackest black. Let's check out this 'Supersonic Wand'.

Here is a detailed photo of the wand before it's covered. Wand is very comparable to Benefit's They're Real! Mascara. The bristles are rubbery. Loving this pink! ;)

And now for the photos! :) Please excuse my brows I didn't fix them up)

Lovely! This mascara did great things in it's first coat. It coated all of my lashes evenly and lengthened them a little too. There doesn't seem to be too much clumping on the first coat. Unlike other mascaras that advise adding a second coat, this packaging doesn't say to add a second. But I went ahead and added a second coat after this first one dried and....

....it gets really clumpy... :(

If you desire a second coat for a dramatic look you can take a eyelash brush and try and separate the lashes.  I notice that this mascara can also make some spider lashes if you're not careful. This Mascara does make your lashes a little stiff, not too much softness or flexibility. During one application I used my L'oreal Voluminous Mascara to 'fill in' after my first coat of Maybelline and the combination of the two worked well. If you're looking for a more subtle look or natural look, one coat of the Maybelline looks great.

The Before and After:
Quite a difference! ;)
Overall:

I should mention is that this Mascara isn't easy to remove with soap and water. It almost seems that it might be somewhat water proof. Though the formula was not water proof. Just thought I should mention that.

Did the Rocket Mascara give me 8X more volumous lashes?....Yes!

Is the Rocket Mascara Clump Free...? Yes! But only on the first coat.

Is this Mascara worth $6-$7...? Yes!

Does this mascara flake or is the lasting power not good..? I didn't notice any flaking. The lasting power was good!

Is this my new HG 'Holy Grail' Mascara...? This isn't my favorite Mascara, but it's now among some of my top favorites!

Will I repurchase this Mascara....? Yes, if my tube goes empty anytime soon I will be repurchasing. I like to have a few different Mascaras at once.
