Weleda Wild Rose Deodorant Review ~ Aluminum Free Deodorant

After months of trying to find a natural deodorant that is free of aluminum and aluminum salts I finally came across this gem by Weleda!

For many years I have used and loved Secret and Dove deodorant, but I finally decided to make a switch from aluminum containing deodorants. Aluminum has been linked to many illnesses and diseases such as Cancer, Alzheimer's, tumor growth and more. Aluminum can seep into your pores making it easily absorbed into your blood stream and it also acts as an antiperspirant blocking off sweating, an important role in releasing toxins from the body. I decided that I didn't want to use aluminum products anymore.

The search to find a great aluminum free deodorant that works hasn't been easy! I first switched to the Crystal stick and Crystal liquid roller. Though the liquid Crystal roller actually worked for me, it is made from '100% Natural Salts', little do they tell you that those Salts also contain Aluminum! :(

Below is a photo of the Crystal deodorant. It says NO Aluminum Chlorohydrate. I feel like this marketing label is very deceiving! It doesn't contain this popular form of Aluminum but it certainly contains another. I was so upset when I found out and very grateful I decided to do my homework on the ingredients. I left a note on their Facebook page and tossed their products into the waste basket.

Next I tried Tom's of Maine's 100% Natural Aluminum Free Deodorant in Apricot. It worked great for me at first but a few days in, I woke up with a terrible rash under my arms! My underarms were welted, itchy and burning. Turns out there is an ingredient that I am allergic to in the product. I checked online and it seems that many customers were having the same reaction. My boyfriend uses the Tom's of Maine without any problems, it may work for you too. :)

Okay Ladies, on to the Review!!

Weleda is an amazing brand from Switzerland! They make so many lovely products, especially for Skin that it's a shame I didn't try this Deodorant sooner!
This deodorant is a liquid spray and is completely 101% free of Aluminum and Aluminum Salts! I researched each and every ingredient. :)

The ingredients that this deodorant is created from are made from completely safe derivatives. Ingredients like the gorgeous Damask Rose essential oil and Lemon essential oil creative a beautiful scent!

At first the scent is a little harsh, a little bitter and a little overwhelming of Wild Rose, but it eventually calms down to a nice feminine scent. You have to really enjoy the scent of Wild Rose to love this deodorant. They also have other scents like Sage and Citrus. I have found that the Wild Rose is the best working deodorant and second is Sage. The Citrus smells good like Sierra-Mist Lemon Lime Soda ;) but it doesn't seem as effective as Rose.

It takes me 2 sprays on each underarm after the shower and a touch up spray later in the evening or after/before a workout to keep any odor at bay.

With the Citrus it takes me about 3 Sprays on each underarm about 3 times a day. I think the Wild Rose does a better job of masking and eliminating odors.

Though this deodorant isn't like Secret where you can apply in the morning and not worry about odor the rest of the day, I believe it's worth the small effort. Especially since I am doing something positive for my body.

If I have a very important event where I absolutely need to smell 100% all day or if I'm wearing a white/gray top and can't have any sweat, I will switch back to regular deodorant for a day. Though I definitely try to avoid that when possible!

Overall I highly recommend trying Weleda's deodorant and other products! You can visit their website here to see all the fab items and learn more about the ingredients they use. :)

We rate Weleda's Wild Rose Deodorant a perfect

We also award this product our Moxie Green Beauty Award for being 100% Natural AND Effective!
Congratulations Weleda!

 Thank you making great products!

Review: St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scrub - Oil Free with Salicylic Acid Acne Medication

Today I'm sharing a review on a staple product in my skincare regimen that I've been using for years: St. Ives Apricot Scrub: Blemish Control edition! Ever since I started really taking care of my skin I've always used St. Ives Apricot scrubs for two reasons: 1. They're SO affordable (about $4 at a Drugstore) and 2. They really do work!

This scrub really helps with blackheads and breakouts! Throughout the month, I usually have a few pimples and I can always tell what they've originated from. Sometimes they're hormonal, sometimes they show up the morning after a junk food sesh' and then there is the 'my face is dirty and my pores are clogged from my makeup' pimple and when I'm using a good facial cleanse and this scrub there's hardly ever any of those nasty pimples to be found!

There are a few different variations of St. Ives scrubs. There is the original Apricot version, some acne prevention scrubs and sensitive skin versions. (The original is also great for using in the shower on your whole body! You can buy a large tub for that, but I'll get more into that in a separate review :)

Most people prefer to use the Original version however there are some situations when this Blemish Control scrub would be ideal.

  1. If you suffer from Acne
  2. If you suffer from Blackheads
  3. If your skin is on the Oily side
  4. If your skin is NOT Sensitive
If you cannot say Yes to all of these things, do not use Blemish Control. It can make your skin very dry from the Salicylic Acid, inflamed from the very rough scrubbies, and irritated from ingredients that are not created for Sensitive skin types.

Let's take a look at the ingredients:

Ingredients like Propylene Glycol, Sodium Laureth Sulfate, Fragrance, and Many others in this scrub are not suitable for Sensitive Skin and unfortunately don't pass our Moxie Green Beauty test!

The Scrub Experience:
An up close look at product color, texture, at all of those scubbies!
A fresh, clean and vibrant apricot scent. Pastey, foamy lather. Wonderful smell! Very large, sparingly and rough scubbing bead pieces making up of about 15% of the product. Contains Salicylic Acid for Blemish Control. Rinses easily and leaves a good clean feeling to my face. Face feels polished and lightly scented. Dries with a matte texture and my skin looks slightly lighter in color and more even in tone. Makes skin slightly taught with a clean finish and hint of shine. A smooth neutral base for moisturizer. Moisturizer would be needed before applying makeup after using this and a night cream or serum would be ideal for before Bed after this using this product.

Moxie Gives St. Ives Blemish Control Apricot Scub:

I hope this review gave you a '360' look at this product and helped you decide if you'd like to try it and generally what to expect.
